On Saturday, March 9. I have to wake up very early because we have a school event. It's our school's 122nd foundation day at Ilocos Sur National High School. It is a tradition of this school to celebrate this every year, and every student per grade level will prepare a performance because there will be a contest per grade level. At 5:40 am in the morning, I arrived at school, and some of my classmates were almost done. At 6:30 am, the assembly will begin, and at 7:30 we will have a parade around the Vigan.. It was my first time to experience this kind of high school day because last year we didn't experience this kind of celebration due to the threat of COVID-19. The feeling of walking with your whole class makes me feel that pride in holding our banner with the name of our section on it. It was tiring walking around Vigan up to our school, but honestly, I enjoyed it. After the parade, we return to our classroom to take some rest, eat a merienda, and also prepare for our field demo.
At 9:30 am, we go to the field, and the wait is over because this is the moment we are waiting for, the moment we have prepared for. The field was full of yells and noises. We are so happy yet so nervous because we are watching other grade levels who have the dedication to win. This is it; it's our turn to dance, and we do it with all our hearts and all we can do. After our turn, the field demo is done, and it's time to announce the winners. Honestly speaking, we are not expecting that we are going to be the champion, and so for the boys, that is why, after that, we return to our classroom immediately. And they announced that the boys in grade 10 won, while the girls in grade 10 only garnered 3rd place. Some rumors said it was embarrassing that other lower grade levels fought us, but that's not the point; the important thing is that we enjoyed and danced with what we could do. All we need is to accept that, and we should be happy. At 2 p.m., there will be a "Concert for a Cost" that will be held at the school's gymnasium. We arrived early in the gym so that our seats would be in front because we would like to show support to our classmates who're part of the concert; in short, they're going to perform. We don't expect that the flow of the concert will be that good. The teacher and other students show their talents in singing; actually, they're so good and well performed. The vibe of the concert hits different for us, Gen Z, because we can relate to the songs that they're singing. The majority said it was the first time Ilocos Sur National High School held a concert, and guess what? It was the most memorable and best Foundation Day ever.
The Ilocos Sur National High School 122nd Foundation Day was a day well spent. We are so blessed and happy to experience this kind of celebration. There are many talents that are shown through dancing and singing. Full of memories. I hope next year that the foundation day will be this successful. I'm sure that all students really enjoy and have fun on this day.
